The “Billy Friend” Theory

“NO, Billy! I don’t care what you are or where you came from; I care about who you are and who you’ve become!” ~ Maddie Friend

~~~~~
Hi guys! Welcome to my Billy Friend theory, or the theory that will try to prove that Maddie and Billy are more than just a creepy fangirl stalker case. I know that you’ve been waiting for a while, so let’s just jump right into it!
The “Billy Friend” theory is simple. This is what it states:
Billy and Maddie are secretly a couple and are actually good friends, or there is something else going on between them under the surface of what is seen in the videos (or, possibly, both of these things at once).
You see, there is more to these two than meets the eye. Many people only see their relationship through the lens of the videos, which makes Maddie appear to be a crazy stalker that Billy constantly tries to avoid and is always running away from. However, once you take a closer look at both of their interactions with one another and take into account each character’s history, you will find that there is room for question about the true nature of their relationship.
The videos themselves are supposed to be funny, so every character’s personal traits and behaviors are emphasized to the extreme, hence all the crazy things that occur in the VenturianTale videos. In this case, it is Maddie’s love for Billy and Billy’s fear of—or more accurately, FOR—Maddie.
In this theory, I will try to prove to you that when you look closely at both of these characters actions and history, there is a very good chance that Billy and Maddie actually DO like each other and are secretly together for legitimate reasons. It will be structured in two main sections, each of which will be uploaded separately. This current one explains Billy’s side of the theory, stating how he can possibly be in love with/friends with Maddie and gives evidence to things that he’s done and said that suggest this. The next section to be uploaded explains WHY Maddie loves Billy so much and WHY she is so adamant about keeping him with her as, at the very least, a friend. Both of these sections will then be summed up together in the second post to explain the full reasoning behind their possible secret relationship.
Billy’s Side of the Theory
Why is Billy So Afraid of Maddie?
Given that I cannot tell you all the blatant horrifying facts about Billy’s backstory, I must keep you all in the dark about the details. Specifics aside though, I find that I can tell you just enough to help with his viewpoint according to this theory.
To put it simply, at one point of his very early life Billy was abruptly separated from his home and cut off from the rest of the world entirely for quite some time. What happens to him during this time is what drives his actions and causes all of his crazy, childish qualities and overall insanely-stupid-but-still-surprisingly-smart personality we see in the VenturianTale videos.
Why is this relevant? Well, think about it like this:
Since he was isolated at such a young age, Billy automatically has some hard social issues to deal with on a daily basis. Ever notice how Billy is not used to people in any regard, and tends to be either over the top or completely missing the mark when he’s interacting with other characters? It’s because he never developed those skills properly as a little kid and he’s now suffering in the social department because of it. But Billy’s getting better at interacting, so that’s good.
Anyways, due to his still-sometimes-very-childish mentality, Billy just doesn’t understand certain things like girlfriends to the extent that someone his age probably should (though I have a sneaking suspicion that he seems to know a LOT more than he’s letting on about that…). My point is that if Billy has trouble conversing with people normally, then how would he be able to express himself openly about something he doesn’t understand?
And that’s just it: the uncertainty of not knowing what to do or how to feel. Given what I know about Billy’s history, I can say for a fact that this uncertainty would definitely scare him, or at the very least affect his thoughts and actions greatly. This plays a large role in the fear that he shows with Maddie.
Speaking of that fear, do you ever wonder why Maddie wants Billy to sign her shirt so badly? There’s another reason aside from her just being a fan and wanting a simple signature. That shirt and Maddie’s constant questioning of Billy is a very important symbolic piece to this relationship’s puzzle.
You see, when someone signs something it means that he/she is acknowledging it. The signed object is something real, something solid—something that can be looked at, or handled—and that something is now out in the open for anyone to see. Think about the shirt as if it was a very important metaphorical document. Once Billy acknowledges what he feels and “signs the shirt,” then he will finally be facing Maddie. Whenever Maddie asks, “Sign my shirt, Billy!” she is really asking him to confront whatever his feelings are for her. Once he accepts the “terms” of his feelings, he will then become committed to his choice because his final “signature” (decision) will be out in the open. At that point their relationship will slowly unravel and become known among the other characters (and therefore us), whether they end up together or not in the end.
Do you understand? The shirt is a metaphor for Billy facing and accepting his feelings for Maddie. When he runs from the shirt, he’s declining the confrontation and putting off his feelings, unable to acknowledge them just yet.
On top of that, another part of Billy’s fear is the fact that he is confused over what he’s signing. He doesn’t know what he’s getting into, and because of this, he is afraid to acknowledge Maddie. Also, signing a document means that you are now bound and tied to it, hence why Billy often states that he’s “free” so long as he doesn’t sign Maddie’s shirt or get married with her. Considering his past and what he experienced as a kid, one cannot really blame Billy for being a little apprehensive about being bound to something he doesn’t fully understand.
Billy is afraid of so, so much—and rightfully so. The weight on his shoulders is high with thoughts about all the things that could happen with him and Maddie, and what their relationship truly means to him and the dangers that comes with it… So Billy does the only thing he can think of; he puts off his feelings and runs from Maddie. In consequence, Maddie keeps chasing after him, asking him to “sign her shirt” because she is trying to coax him into finally letting go of his fear to face her.
Despite this explanation, however, there is a whole lot more to Billy’s fear than just this. There is a much more serious reason for why Billy always appears so scared around Maddie. This next reason is what allows his fear to be truly justified.
This very important part of his fears all boils down to simple chemistry. No, really, I’m serious—chemistry, biology, DNA, and a whole lot of unexplainable phenomena.
Billy is a paranormal—that is a well-known fact—and an insanely powerful paranormal, at that. He has foresight (future sight), and can fly, control objects with his mind (telekinesis), shapeshift into animals and objects, set things on fire with his mind, travel between any dimension he wants AND through time, and can even bring the dead back to life, among many, many others. With this in mind, it’s unbelievable to even try to comprehend the sheer amount of power Billy wields on a daily basis. Now, given the fact that the dimension Billy lives in with the Acachalla’s utterly hates paranormals, what do you think the backlash of someone finding out about his supernatural abilities would be?
Go on. Think about it.
Whatever you’re thinking, it cannot be good, can it?
Imagine you’re a paranormal—a human, dragon, animatronic, ghost, a talking dog, it doesn’t matter. Now imagine mixing P.I.E., the government, and a bunch of completely crazy lunatics suddenly on your trail because of your paranormal abilities. What do you think they would do to someone like you? Considering this is GMod, they would kick you out of the dimension, right?
…Or they could do worse. Much worse. Right?
Now, imagine you had the ability to run and hide, but couldn’t because they had the ability to hurt the person you had somehow accidently fallen in love with.
Unless you never really loved that person, at that moment, you are caught.
Now let me ask you this: What do you think they would do to someone as powerful as Billy if he was ever caught? THAT, my fellow theorists, is why Billy shows so much fear towards Maddie’s love and why he still runs away from her affections.
Just think about some of these points:
  • Jimmy Casket was killed by his own mother because he was half-demon and she was afraid that he was dangerous (proven with video evidence here: fallenshadow95.deviantart.com/… and [further] explained here: fallenshadow95.deviantart.com/…).
  • P.I.E guns down any paranormal they see, without hearing the entity out or even caring whether or not they are really good or evil to begin with. Furthermore, P.I.E. doesn’t have any care in the world about the damage they do to normal people, or the area they are investigating when trying to capture or kill (yes, KILL) an entity. To put this attitude towards paranormals into perspective, Ghost once outright tried to kill his best friend Johnny Toast when he realized that his partner was a werewolf. Ghost didn’t even consider talking to Toast at all and instead instantly favored the idea of killing him rather than trying to help him. What is so shocking about this is the fact that Toast, as everyone knows, is Ghost’s best friend and is possibly the only closest thing to family he has. So, if Ghost is willing to kill his best friend and only family, what do you think a group of people like him would do to someone like Billy? (You can find the werewolf video here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t72Zz…)
  • That said, we know that there are other investigators and paranormal hunting teams out there. Given what we’ve seen of P.I.E., would it be that far-fetched to assume that some groups are just like them when it comes to their views on paranormals? Could there even be groups who do worse things to paranormals than just capturing them and kicking them out of the dimension? The true scariness of this idea is that it is entirely possible that there are other teams out there that fit this description.
  • Normal people also constantly berate and attack paranormals because of their own fear of the unknown, as seen with some one-time GMod characters. How would a normal human react to someone like Billy if they had been brought up with the notion that “paranormal = bad”?
  • Heck, paranormal’s rights are completely nonexistent in GMod. Freedom of their very existence in the first dimension (the dimension Billy currently lives in) is non-existent. Just look at what some of the known governmental officials have done to a few of them! As soon as they pop up, any paranormals are instantly chased down and kicked out of the dimension, regardless if they were doing anything wrong.
  • Even Papa Acachalla once gunned down a Balloon Boy animatronic just because it was a paranormal. At first, BB was just being a regular kid trying to get something to eat with his dad at Acachalla’s restaurant. However, as soon as Papa noticed that the kid was paranormal, he did everything in his power to try to exterminate it. It’s no wonder why the BB and his dad started lashing back. Even if the animatronic eventually did start chasing after and attacking Papa and Sally in the video, this point still stands: it was innocent to begin with and only started acting aggressive towards Papa because it was being provoked. Furthermore, the BB was a child. How do you think a paranormal kid with barely any control of its powers would react if you picked on it? I’ll let you judge who is right in this scenario. You may find the video here and watch the events unfold yourself: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xyPTW…
(I won’t even bother sourcing anything for a few of these points because every single GMod video has at least one of them in it, whether completely obvious or not. Just click on a random P.I.E. video and there you go.)
So you see, the stereotypical paranormal fear present throughout Billy’s world is a legitimate concern, and a rather terrifying idea once the true extent of something like this is realized.
With this fact alone, it’s no wonder Billy is so afraid—not of—but FOR Maddie.
I mean, I only talked about the HUMAN threat here. I’m not even going to get into what an evil paranormal being who has a bone to pick with Billy could do. That is an entirely different theory for another day.
Regardless of who it is, just imagine what anyone could do to Maddie if Billy’s paranormal side was ever discovered by the public. If they were known to be very close, then the people coming after him could use Maddie to hurt or get to Billy. Even if Billy does whatever he can, he’d still be hurt regardless by wither losing Maddie permanently or by Maddie giving him away accidently and/or forcedly. I can’t even begin to describe how terrible things could get for her and Billy within a universe such as GMod where paranormal beings have no rights and literally anything could happen.
That, fellow theorists, fully explains the fear Billy usually displays when around Maddie, and why he tends to run from her. He is afraid of what could happen to both her and himself if his paranormal side is ever found out and Maddie was connected to him in a serious way by the public. I mean, wouldn’t you run if you had the weight of knowing what could happen on your shoulders 24-7? Wouldn’t you be afraid?
Why Does Billy Encourage & Help Maddie If He Doesn’t Even Like Her?
Now that the fear he shows around Maddie has been explained, let’s start getting into the really interesting stuff. The main thing that I’d like to address in this part of the theory is that over the course of Maddie’s time in GMod, Billy has done and said a number of things indicating that something else is going on underneath their see-the-crazy-girl-and-run relationship.
Billy is a very interesting character in general, and his role in GMod and the overall VenturianTale universe should not be taken lightly. This includes his relationships. Specifically because Billy’s relationships with his friends, family, and other people around him are what affect the overall outcome of his life, which in turn affects the entire VenturianTale universe. In other words, his relationships with other characters are what create all the various timelines within the VenturianTale universe that surround his character. That said, Billy’s interactions with Maddie are very important to solving the puzzle of their relationship AND the overall story of GMod. This is why I am here explaining so many theories to you: to show you how all these things eventually interconnect into a larger story.
For this part, let’s start with talking about Billy’s abilities. Particularly the fact that he can travel through time and if he really wanted, can seemingly alter any dimension to his will.
With these powers in mind, I have a couple of questions for you.
If Billy really hated Maddie as much as he says he does, then WHY doesn’t he just go back in time and stop them from ever meeting? If it’s really to the point where he can’t stand her anymore, then why doesn’t he just erase her from existence and be done with her? Maddie does not have any time travel or inter-dimensional abilities documented as of yet, so she can’t be the reason why he’s not simply using his abilities to get her to leave him alone. So… what’s stopping Billy from just erasing Maddie from his life completely?
Another thought: Why doesn’t he ever leave Maddie stranded in another dimension? She wouldn’t be able to get back unless by some crazy miracle, so it’s definitely a possible way to get rid of her.
Furthermore, why would Billy bring Maddie back from the dead if he didn’t like her around? This particular question is rather tricky, but I must not leave anything out, even if it makes this theory a bit more complicated.
In one video, it is stated that Maddie has many clones of herself and that’s why she keeps coming back. Kind of like Higgley Diggly Hoogan, the cloned cop. However, after the boxing ring map video that the Maddie clones were first introduced, they were completely forgotten as an aspect of her character. Instead, now in every video since, it has been clarified that Billy is the one who brings back the entire Acachalla family, as well as people he believes deserves it, such as his friends.
And that’s just it. Maddie is already a part of the Acachalla family as a relative to Gertrude, so she instantly had Billy bringing her back automatically. Even if she WAS a clone, this logic would still apply. Maddie is Maddie, duplicated or not, so this clone would be brought back to life regardless because she is STILL family.
There is also another legitimate reason for why the clones can’t be responsible for her coming back from the dead. You see, these “clones” don’t apply to the Maddie in this theory. I could sit here and explain it all to you now, but if I did then I would probably run out of space. In addition, if I did explain it all here then I wouldn’t have a need to complete that Duel Timeline theory that I’ve been mentioning a lot recently. Let’s just say that this clone problem will be cleared when I finally get that done. I’ll put a link to it below this paragraph when I do complete it so that you can check out the full explanation. Maddie herself plays a large role in the Duel Timeline theory, so both are connected. All I can say right now though is that whether she is a clone or not, Billy is the reason why Maddie comes back from the dead. In fact, the Maddie being discussed here in this timeline has been confirmed to come back from the dead due to Billy many times in various videos.
With that interesting thought out of the way, another thing that I’d like to point out is this: Why does Billy even hang out with Maddie if he doesn’t like her?
Maddie is a formidable force to be reckoned with when it comes to Billy, so it is understandable if she is able to pester him enough for Billy to just let her tag along. But the problem with that is the fact that Billy can easily escape her. He can fly, teleport, walk through walls—heck, he can even turn into other objects and animals to hide from her until she leaves. In fact, he does so hundreds of times in videos and yet… in every single one… he gives away his position.
Purposefully, so that Maddie can find him.
And he enjoys doing so.
It’s to the point where it’s become a sort of game to them both. Maddie chases Billy, and Billy runs from her, but leaves openings for Maddie to catch him. It’s as if he’s baiting her, keeping her on his trail because he doesn’t really want her to stop. Billy enjoys being chased, and if he’s caught, then he pretends to hate Maddie, but rewards her by hanging out with her anyways, secretly loving every minute of her company (even if he pretends not to).
And Maddie knows this, which is why she chases him, acting creepy and stalker-ish one moment for their “game” and then concerned and normal the next when her act is momentarily dropped.
Don’t believe me? Here’s some evidence of this very behavior.
At 12:04 during the GMod BURGER KING Map! (Garry's Mod), this conversation happens:
Maddie: Where are you Billy? I can’t find you! Are you still around Burger King?
Billy: *hiding by Burger King’s drive-through window, inside* I’m just… ummm… the, the… I’m at the drive through… outside… totally…
Maddie: There’s a drive through? I didn’t even know—we need a car!
Billy: *still stays by window even though he knows Maddie is coming because he can hear her calling his name*
The fact of the matter is that Billy gave away his position and ended up staying where he was even though he knew that Maddie was coming. This isn’t even the only time in that video! It happens again at 14:27 when Maddie finally leaves the Burger King to look for him elsewhere. Billy literally hops over the counter and runs to the still open door after her, yelling his signature line, “Papa Acachalla!” before closing the door and darting away to hide again. At this point, it’s as if he’s purposefully teasing her and trying to get her to come after him.
Maddie, for her part, had already known it was him to begin with, but still plays along and tells him that she is coming through the drive through again… where Billy conveniently waits for her yet again without running (though he does freak out a bit anyways because, you know, confrontation and all that).
Even in his own mind, this happens. During the video titled GMod BILLY ACACHALLA’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION! (Garry’s Mod), Billy gives away his hiding spot to Maddie at around 14:13, giving her little hints as to where he is and then just outright giving himself up in the end. This is what was said:
Maddie: Are you really hiding?
Billy: Hiding inside the house where you’ll never find me!
Maddie: Oh, I don’t believe you…
Billy: I do believe myself!
Maddie: Billy!
Billy: I’m moving the fridge!
Maddie: *pauses, confused, stalker act dropping for a moment* You’re in the fridge?
Billy: *act also dropped* No, I’m moving one.
Maddie: …You moved a fridge?
Billy: Yeah.
After he says this, Billy then proceeds to turn himself into a grate cover and moves out of his hiding place to look for Maddie himself when she doesn’t find him fast enough. When he does find her, Billy purposefully stops in front of her, laughing. Maddie watches as he tries to place himself in an area beneath the stairs, saying that he’s giving Spencer a door. He then proceeds to let her shoot him as he laughs.
Again, in this video Billy purposefully gives clues to where he’s hiding to help Maddie find him. He even goes to find her himself when she fails to figure out where he is. It’s something to think about, because, again… why would he do that if he didn’t like her around in some way?
Now, let’s go back to the previous video about Burger King. Another thing to note about it is that when Billy uses a fake replica of himself to “trick” Maddie into thinking it’s him when Maddie asks him to go on a drive with her. Maddie obviously knows that it’s not him, but pretends to go along with it anyways. What is important about this interaction is that at 16:24, this happens:
Billy: *whispers from on top of BK roof* She’ll totally never notice that my voice is coming from above, all quiet…
Maddie: *says knowingly* It’s okay, I’m used to your voice echoing from random directions~
Billy: ‘Cause I’m the voice in your head, ‘cause I love you so much!
Billy essentially encourages Maddie with his “acting,” which is NOT something he would EVER do if he truly hated Maddie as he says he does. In fact, he does the worst thing he could possibly do—he tells her that he loves her. Not hates her, not likes her, but loves her. That is, it would be the worst thing if he was lying and didn’t love her. Which he does. Obviously.
As expected, this is NOT the only questionable occurrence between the two.
In fact, Billy actually decides to get in the car anyways with Maddie and go on a drive.
At 17:30 of that very same video, Billy forgoes his hiding spot on the roof to willingly go on a drive with Maddie.
Again, why would he do something like that? If he didn’t like her, then why does he encourage her? Furthermore, why does he like spending time with her so much?
In fact, he hangs out with Maddie alone all the time. In the GMod FUN SOCCER Multiplayer Gamemode! (Garry's Mod Football), Billy is playing soccer with Maddie in an otherwise abandoned soccer field, and enjoys it even though he tries to act like he doesn’t. You can tell he is enjoying himself because he laughs and jokes with her, even if he tries to act impassive. It’s quite endearing, actually, and Billy even acts as if they’ve been legitimate friends for a long time.
Heck, at around 7:00 in the video, before we know that its Billy, he even says, “Girl, don’t make me break up with you!” in a joking, sassy tone because Maddie kept getting in the way of his soccer ball, stopping him from kicking it into a goal. The choice of words itself is questionable, but his attitude and tone makes it obvious that he’s playing. Whether or not Billy is hinting at them being together already or not is up for debate, however.
Another thing to note is that at the beginning of the video at around 25 seconds, Bethany asks Isaac to turn around and Isaac slips into his Billy voice and replies the following:
Billy: *turns around* Alright… *waits for Maddie to do something* *nothing happens* *gets nervous* I-I have trust issues okay!-?-!
Maddie: There’s nothing to worry about… *is slowly kicking ball to goal behind his back* Nothing at all… just… think happy thoughts!
Billy: *notices Maddie kicking ball* *shouts* HEY! Hey!-!-! *kicks ball away from her, grinning*
Maddie: *laughs* *goes to retrieve ball*
After that, they have fun trying to get the ball away from one another, laughing and throwing jokes and taunts at one another—they have fun together. Also, the comment about trust issues relates to Billy’s nervousness and fear he shows towards Maddie due to his past and dimensional stigmas. In this video, I believe we see a tiny glimpse of what their relationship is really like under the surface, away from prying eyes.
Other videos such as the GMod Colorful Explosive FIREWORKS Mod! (Garry’s Mod), the GMod BOXING RING Mod (Garry’s Mod, the GMod AIRPLANE Flying Runway Map (Garry’s Mod, the KILLED BY CELEBRITIES!? – GMod Morgan Freeman, Keanu Reeves, Mat Smith, Christian Bale, and many others all show Billy hanging out with Maddie in different settings, running from her and giving her clues (or just outright telling her) where he is, and generally just having a good time joking around and enjoying her company, however crazy the dynamics of their relationship are.
Perhaps they truly are together, but Billy only acts as if he hates Maddie whenever they are in the presence of other people or in a public place due to the fear of someone finding out about them? It wouldn’t really surprise me, honestly, if that is what’s going on. It is entirely possible for them to be an item in secret without letting anyone know for fear of the wrong people finding out. But, alas, we won’t know until someone messes up and gives them both away, or until the siblings themselves outright tells us.
The bottom line for this section is that even if they aren’t together romantically, one cannot deny that there is something going on under the surface of Billy and Maddie’s relationship, and that this something very strongly hints that both Billy and Maddie actually together in a secret relationship.
Why is Maddie so Important to Billy?
Maddie is a significant person in Billy’s overall character and story. That much is obvious. But not that many people realize just how important Maddie is to Billy in general. Without her, Billy and everyone else around him would be in big trouble. That said, what this section will eventually boil down to is this simple fact:
The reason why Maddie is so important is because Billy cannot make it on his own without someone like Maddie in his life.
Why does he need someone like Maddie, you ask?
Well. This part of the theory is going to be dedicated to explaining that. To put it in simple terms, Maddie sees Billy for who he is rather than an idiotic kid like everyone else. She appreciates him and truly loves him, even if others hate him for being paranormal, or if some talk him down for being stupid. For this reason, Billy needs Maddie with him, even if he doesn’t fully realize it.
That’s it.
It’s that simple.
But I’m going to go the extra step and prove it to you.
Let’s start this section with something serious. You would not think it to look at him, but Billy is actually a whole lot smarter than people give him credit for. In fact, he may act like a foolish, childish idiot, but Billy is really the smartest (and possibly the most important) person in GMod. This smartness is shown throughout many videos, and I plan to prove his intelligence sometime in the near future in a separate theory. For now, all you need to know is that Billy is not as stupid as people believe he is.
And that’s one of his problems.
Billy is smart, but everyone sees him as an idiot and they tell him that he’s stupid constantly and treat him badly because of it—in fact, at the top of Billy’s wiki page, there’s a quote from Papa Acachalla that is literally, “Billy, you’re stupid!”
Billy even acknowledges that he’s being made fun of or talked down to because of his feigned stupidity and mentions it all the time on the channel. But, Billy being Billy, he covers it up as a joke and either laughs it off, or says it in a way that viewers usually miss what he said. Therefore, no one has ever realized the true gravity behind his words.
Don’t believe me? Here’s some evidence straight from my personal list of notes about Billy. I have about five pages of quotes just like these, but I will only show and explain the most relevant ones.
The most straightforward occurrence happens in the video titled PLAY AS A FIREFIGHTER! - GMod Uniform Mod (Garry's Mod), when Billy falls asleep on a bus and finds his way into a firefighter school where he is soon recruited and starts training to become a firefighter. At around 2:15, this conversation takes place:
Firefighter: I just called you a sissy. You’re supposed to get mad!
Billy: I’m not mad at you. I hear that all the time from every member of my family.  I also hear butthead, stupid, idiot, all kinds of things…
Firefighter: I see… are those things true?
Billy: Umm… I wouldn’t think so. I mean, I don’t, I-I don’t really know. Sometimes they’ll be mean enough to call me Billy Acachalla.
Firefighter: Bu-ugh… Isn’t that your name?
Billy: Yeah, well, Acachalla is kind of an insult…
The fact that Billy outright states that his family constantly calls him stupid, a butthead, a sissy, and other derogatory things, is enough to prove my point. What makes this particular quote meaningful is that in at least one timeline and/or point in Billy’s life, this treatment is getting to him so much that Billy eventually starts calling his own family name an insult. It really drives home the idea that he does not appreciate such treatment and that it’s taking a great toll on him. Even if he wants everyone to believe that he is stupid, I don’t think that anyone could ever enjoy being called names and be looked down upon without getting at least a little upset or feeling completely degraded at some point.
So you see, Billy’s home life is a mix between good and bad. It really depends on the timeline and situation, really. On one hand, his family is supportive, loves him very much, and would probably do everything in their power to protect him if they needed to. On the other hand, Billy’s constant act of playing the idiot makes everyone treat him as if he was an idiot, causing them to accidently talk him down and make him feel, well… truly stupid. I’d even go so far to say that in at least one timeline or another, this unintentional behavior has caused Billy to become rather depressed on the inside, given some of the other things he’s said and done over the course of the videos. In truth, we don’t know what’s going on in Billy’s mind when these things happen, even if its unintentional. The damage could still be done even if it’s just a normal thing for people to accidently talk him down. Even if his family teases him or unintentionally calls him out on his stupidity, it is possible that he can be hurt greatly over time by their offhanded remarks.
Now, I am not saying that his family hates him or doesn’t love him. Because they do love him a lot, would do anything in their power to help him… and would probably fall apart without him. I am only making a point here that they and many people talk down to Billy often, which in turn weighs down on his overall stability. In fact, I believe that most characters don’t even realize what they are doing. When push comes to shove, however, Billy’s family and friends will always be there for him. He just has trouble remembering that sometimes when others get frustrated by his feigned stupidity and call him out on it.
Remember, VenturianTale as a channel is meant to be funny to us viewers, and Billy being a “stupid” character opens up the door for a lot of really questionable things to be said about him by other characters.
Well, all other characters except for Maddie. So far, Maddie is the only reoccurring person in GMod that hasn’t made fun of Billy’s stupidity.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There is a more serious reason for why I am telling you about this. The fact of the matter is that at some point in at least one timeline, all of these remarks will lead to a very, very bad ending for our beloved characters if Billy is left without something positive to keep him stable.
That positive thing is, of course, Maddie.
Don’t believe me? Well, take a look at this.
In the video titled HOW PAPA ACACHALLA MET GERTRUDE, the Toilet Toucher (TT) appears in Papa’s 7-11 looking for his parents. As everyone should know, the TT is a future time-traveling version of Billy from one of his possible timelines. The only problem is that he’s come too early and finds Gertrude and Papa during their first meeting. The reason why this interaction is so important is what the TT says sometime around 13:50…
TT: I’m your son from the future.
Papa: Are you kidding? I ain’t ever having no kids! Get the heck out of here!
Gertrude: Creepy people…
TT: But I’m your son…
Papa: Get the heck outta here!
Gertrude: Go away! *hits TT with crowbar*
TT: OW! *flinches and steps away from her* Don’t hit me woman! *adds in a sad tone, on the verge of crying, turning away* My mama’s always been so mean… *is then killed by Gertrude for being too slow in leaving*
What’s meaningful about this particular instance is that in the TT timeline, Gertrude must have been significantly mean to Billy for the TT to say that. This hints to the possibility that in the TT timeline, Billy’s entire family was especially mean. That meanness coupled with his past experiences before meeting the Acachalla’s (ESPECIALLY in this particular timeline) would be devastating to both Billy and the dimension as a whole.
That said, Maddie plays a large role in keeping Billy stable. Could this offhanded treatment have possibly led to the creation of the evil side of Billy, the TT, in one of his future timelines? I do not know for certain, but it definitely could be a big factor in what happened during that particular timeline to cause Billy to go bad. Given the fact that the TT is a ghost brings up a whole lot of other terrifying possibilities.
Contrary to popular belief, Billy is NOT 100% immortal. He CAN die permanently, as we can see with the TT’s ghost. The question is, how did Billy—or the TT—die in one of his future timelines?
It’s a simple thought, but the answer may be a bit troubling to think about for some.
You see, Billy’s past has taken a great toll on him as a character. That is to say, it’s terrifying to think about all the things he must have gone through. Horrifying, even. To the point that it’s a wonder that he actually survived.
You see, while I can’t tell you much about what happened to him in detail, I can tell you about all the effects that his past experiences has caused. If you look closely at Billy’s behavior in various videos, you would never guess all the things that he has to deal with on a daily basis. Given what I’ve seen and been able to note, I can say with confidence that Billy actually suffers from both Survivors Syndrome and PTSD, among a few other fear and memory-influenced conditions. I won’t go into details about these things just yet, for it would be too complicated for me to explain here. I am planning on making another theory related to all the things that are currently effecting Billy’s health sometime in the future. For now, though, all you need to know is this:
There is a mental war going on in Billy’s mind all the time.
Much like Jimmy, Billy has trouble keeping himself in the present and seems to be all over the place in videos. This is because there are little things that remind him of his past experiences that scare him. The scars Billy has due to his past are heavy and deep and are not going to go away anytime soon. They are something that contributes to Billy’s personal fears and actions throughout the videos.
In fact, part of what scares him relates to how he is treated by others.
That said, lets come back to a question from before: Could this offhanded treatment have possibly led to the creation of the ghost of the evil side of Billy (the TT) in one of his future timelines?
With this question in mind, one has to truly wonder what circumstances did cause the ghost of the TT to be created.
Was the mental strain of his past the thing that finally broke Billy beyond repair? Was he found out by someone to be paranormal, and chased out of the dimension, but ended up getting killed somehow in the process? Did his history finally catch up with him and annihilated him? Was the strain of everything and everyone riding on his shoulders too much and Billy just decided to give up? Or did something happen to his family that left him all alone, causing the same eventual outcome? Was it a mixture of any of these things?
Given the fact that in one GMod video Billy ends up jumping off a cliff to kill himself, it is a very real possibility. In fact, this could be the very timeline that could have created the TT as a ghost in the first place.
I am 100% serious about this. In the video titled GMod ALIENS Pulse Rifle Xenomorph Mod! (Garry's Mod), Billy technically kills himself by jumping off a cliff because he’s last human alive in the entire galaxy. After killing Papa Acachalla, who had been turned into a Xenomorph, Jordan states the following narrative at 18:45:
Jordan: And that day Papa Acachalla died… and the last of the Xenomorph’s were cleared out! …And Billy became the last surviving human in the entire galaxy. That was the day the human race was truly doomed because Billy jumped off a cliff two minutes later. By accident.
Even though Jordan states that Billy jumped off the cliff by accident, he still pauses and then asks, confused, “How does one accidently jump off a cliff?-!”
Isaac doesn’t give him an answer and the video ends. The fact that the “by accident” was seemingly added as an afterthought and on top of the fact that Jordan even questions Billy’s actions suggests that Billy did not “accidently” jump off that cliff after all.
Maybe he jumped for a reason.
Maybe he jumped because he didn’t want to be alone.
You will soon come to find as I explain more things about Billy in future theories and stories that one of Billy’s deepest and darkest, most secretive fears is the thought of being truly alone. This relates to his past and plays on the darker side of his character that not that many people seem to know about. So dark and ingrained is that past and fear of abandonment that Billy would rather die permanently than be left completely and utterly alone.
Whether this particular video is related the TT timeline or not, this fear is something to think about the next time you watch a video with Billy in it. All of his actions, if you look carefully, will circle around that one fear of eternal loneliness, even if it isn’t completely obvious. There is always something hidden within multiple videos that leads up to this one fear.
But what does all this have to do with Maddie?
Well, it’s simple really.
Maddie is the only one in the VenturianTale multiverse who consistently treats Billy normally, as if he’s a person and not some kind of paranormal freak or even a weird kid with mental problems. That said, this right here is the key to why I personally believe that Billy and Maddie are together or will someday be together in a future relationship on the channel.
You see, Maddie is like a support pillar holding Billy up and away from all the negative things that are trying to pull him under and drown him from below. This includes the weight of his past experiences, the current unintentional remarks about his intelligence and/or uselessness from others that weighs down on his conscience, and the weight of having literally the life of everyone in GMod weighing on his shoulders. To understand this perspective further, think about Billy and Maddie’s relationship like this:
To the public, Billy is “stupid”, “useless”, “insane”, and a completely “lost cause.”
To Maddie, however, Billy is “smart”, “brave”, “cool”, a “hero”, her “friend” and much, much more.
Given the fact that Billy is in desperate need of something constant and positive in his life, Maddie is the only one out there that can willingly fill that void. No matter where he is or what he says or does, one thing is certain: Maddie is always at the ready to be there beside him and back him up. This explains why he likes hanging out with her and why he enjoys her company so much. He appreciates and enjoys feeling wanted and loved without any judgment on his actions or behavior.
…Even if he was paranormal or not.
Maddie is one of the few people who I believe has, at some point in the videos, found out about Billy’s true paranormal self, what he’s doing in GMod, and the weight he has on his shoulders due to both his past and present situations. Most importantly, Maddie is the only 100% human that accepts Billy completely. She doesn’t care about what he is, where he came from, or about the emotional baggage that he carries around constantly from such a broken past. She isn’t afraid of him like some others have shown and she doesn’t mock him for his actions.
Maddie, despite all her faults and crazy behavior, is the only human that cares about who Billy is as a person.
That is why he loves her.
My main point and the one thing that you must take away from this theory is that Maddie is the one who is always there to remind Billy that, yes, he is loved, and, yes, he is wanted; stupid, smart, weird, normal, or paranormal—it doesn’t matter. He has someone, no matter what he is or where he came from. No matter how dangerous or crazy things get, Billy will always have Maddie to turn to as a friend. With Maddie, Billy can be himself and Maddie, for all her craziness, is the only person who doesn’t see a broken, useless kid that needs fixing or a dangerous monster that needs to be controlled and/or locked away when she looks at Billy. She loves him for who he is, as he is. Someone like Billy needs a strong support like that to keep his spirits high and to stop his mind from cracking completely.
Just think about it. His family can only do so much, and a lot of them barely know anything about Billy’s past as of now (possibly excluding Gertrude and MAYBE Spencer). Because of this, they can’t support him in the way that he needs them to. To top it off, the only person who we’ve seen that gives Billy some outright comfort on camera is Gertrude.
What I’m saying is that without Maddie, Billy wouldn’t have anyone to reassure him 100% of the time that he will be all right, that he will get through the day and make it to the next, and that he has nothing to fear because he will never be alone.
Billy needs that reassurance, even if it’s not completely obvious all the time.
Without Maddie’s constant support and love, I fear that the timeline of Billy’s life will slowly start taking a much darker turn. Her influence is that strong.
That, my friends, is the reason for why Maddie is so important to Billy as a whole. He needs her to chase after him, to remind him that someone is willing to go to the ends of the Earth to find and protect him. He needs her to follow him through thick and thin with a love that never wavers. Most of all, he needs her love to remind him that life is worth it. Without her, the Billy we have come to love just wouldn’t be the same.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYBODY! I hope all you guys had a good time today! I didn't really get anything, but I'm still super excited to FINNALY get to share this theory with you! Its been on my mind for a while now and I'm really happy that its finally ready for you all (partly, anyways lol)! Consider this a (slightly late) Valentine's Day gift from me to all you lovely people who took the time out of their day to read this giant thing!
Apologies that this came out a little later than expected. Something came up and I got set back for about 2 hours time on editing. I'm probably going to have to go back and fix up the last point/section on this post sometime tomorrow because I'm still not 100% satisfied with it yet.
This isn't going to be a super long after-comment because its almost 1 in the morning right now and I'm too tired to think coherently at the moment. So ye. I'll make this brief.
Before I go, I'd like to ask you guys what you think of the theory. Is it possible for Maddie and Billy to be secretly together? Or is it still just plain crazy? Remember, this is only half of the theory--we still have to get through Maddie's side and the overview of the entire thing. I just REALLY want to know what you think about this half. This is one of the most important theories I will probably ever do, so I'd love to hear your thoughts about it so far.
And with that, I shall now excuse myself so that I can go pass out on the couch.
